We're a small-batch cosmetic manufacturer working with start-ups, indie brands and first-time founders who want something that's genuinely their own — a product developed from scratch around their idea, rather than chosen from a catalogue.
It's a different route from white-labelling. Instead of putting your name on an existing formula, we develop a bespoke formula with you and manufacture it under GMP — taking your idea from concept through to a finished, manufactured product. How does our cosmetic formulation development process work?
We develop bespoke cosmetic formulations through a structured technical process, taking your product from initial brief to a tested, safety-assessed formula ready for manufacture.
1. Technical Brief
We define your product requirements, performance goals, ingredient preferences and commercial considerations.
2. Ingredient & Formulation Proposal
Our technical team researches suitable ingredients, considers sourcing and costs, and creates a development proposal for approval.
3. Formula Development
We create your bespoke formulation and manufacture a laboratory prototype for evaluation.
4. Sample Review & Refinement
You review the prototype and provide feedback. Agreed refinements are then made to the formula.
5. Stability & Packaging Compatibility Testing
The final formula is tested to understand its stability, performance over time and compatibility with your chosen packaging.
6. Cosmetic Safety Assessment
Once development and testing are complete, the formulation undergoes an independent Cosmetic Product Safety Report (CPSR) assessment.
The result: a bespoke formulation that has been developed, stability tested, packaging compatibility confirmed and independently safety assessed, ready to move into manufacturing.
Formulation Development FAQ’s
How long does cosmetic product development take?
A typical end-to-end cosmetic formulation project takes around 3–6 months, depending on the complexity of the formulation, testing requirements, packaging, client feedback and project schedule.
Do I get to test the cosmetic formulation before it is finalised?
Yes. We manufacture a small laboratory prototype for you to review and provide feedback on before the formulation finalisation.
Are formulation amendments included?
Small refinements and one round of amendments are included within the agreed formulation scope. Significant changes to the original brief may require additional development work and cost.
Are cosmetic ingredient costs included in the formulation fee?
No. Ingredient costs are separate from the formulation fee. Estimated ingredient costs are provided during the proposal stage.
Do you arrange the Cosmetic Product Safety Report (CPSR)?
Yes. We provide Cosmetic Product Safety Reports (CPSRs) in-house as part of our technical and regulatory support. We can take your product through the safety assessment stage and prepare the complete CPSR required before placing a cosmetic product on the UK market.
